On Friday 30th October 2009, the meat industry will gather for the annual Butchers and Drovers Festival Dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London (www.grosvenor-house.co.uk). This sparkling occasion is always the highlight of the meat trade’s social calendar.
The dinner will comprise a sumptuous four-course meal and the traditional auction will provide an opportunity to bid for a variety of outstanding items including sporting memorabilia, antiques, collectables and attendance at top UK events. In addition, the raffle will feature a brand new Renault Clio Extreme as well as many other superb and desirable items.
We are delighted to welcome two entertainers. Kevin Connelly is a highly engaging impressionist whose talent we are sure you will enjoy. Kevin is best known from the TV show ‘Dead Ringers.’ Also present will be an excellent after dinner speaker, Garry Richardson, who has been a broadcaster for the BBC for over 30 years, best known as the sports presenter on Radio Four's prestigious "Today" programme. With his rich mixture of stories and anecdotes about his life in broadcasting, we are sure he will appeal to the whole audience.
The proceeds of the dinner are to be shared equally between the Butchers’ and Drovers’ Charitable Institution and the Worshipful Company of Butchers Educational Charity.
The funds raised will enable the BDCI to continue to assist in very practical ways those from our industry who, for a variety of reasons, find themselves in need. The support we provide includes pensions, assistance towards fees for residential or nursing homes and grants for a range of home aids and improvements.
