    RED and FQD Consultations

    FQD - This consultation seeks views on the Government's proposals to introduce new regulations transposing the greenhouse gas intensity reduction requirements of European Directive 2009/30/EC (which amends Directive 98/70/EC, commonly known as the Fuel Quality Directive).     RED - This consultation considers the implementation of the RED by amendments to the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation. A copy of the consultation document is available by clicking here. The consultation period closes on the 2nd June 2011.

  • DEFRA Disease Contingency Plan

    The plan outlines the roles and responsibilities, systems and structures in place for responding to an outbreak of exotic notifiable animal disease, the plan also highlights our working on preparing for disease outbreaks. Animal By-Products Legislation

  • ABPR - England

    The Animal By-Products (Enforcement) Regulations 2011, SI 2011/881 administer and enforce the Regulation (EC) 1069/2009 laying down health rules as regards animal by-products and derived products not intended for human consumption and its accompanying implementing Regulation (EC) 142/2011.   • Scottish ABPR Legislation

    Scotland has published its response to the previous consultation exercise on Animal By-products Legislation and has issued updated legislation to take effect from 4th March 2011. A copy of an explanatory letter can be downloaded here and the Scottish legislation can be downloaded here.

  • European ABPR Legislation

    The revised European Regulations on Animal By-products came into force on 4th March together with the necessary detailed implementing regulations. The main Regulations (1069/2009) can be downloaded here and the Implementing Regulations (142/2011) can be downloaded here.

Environmental Legislation

  • rWFD –Waste Regulations

    The new Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, SI 2011/998 transpose for England and Wales the revised Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC. A copy of the SI 2011/998 regulation is available by clicking here.

  • Waste Framework Directive

    The government has now issued the long-awaited draft of the implementing regulations for the Waste Framework Directive. A Defra letter describing the draft legislation can be downloaded here.

Official Guidance

  • EA's H4 – Supporting Documents

    In support of the Environment Agency's H4- Odour Management guidance, the Environment Agency have issued the following set of supporting documents which are downloadable by clicking on the titles:

    - Example odour reporting form (sniff testing);
    - Odour complaint report form;
    - Odour diary.

    EA's H4 Odour Guidance

    The Environment Agency has issued their revised H4 - Horizontal Guidance on Odour Management. This guidance covers the regulatory requirements with regard to odour, advice on the management of odour and the aspects that should be dealt with in an odour management plan.
